Some people are just foul

Some of the stories you guys have sent in to me have kept me up half the night because they show the very worst of flatmate behaviour. Like this one fromĀ Adam that even I don't even know where to start with...

"I found Linda through an ad in the local paper. Coincidence was Linda had the same name as my girlfriend and her boyfriends name was the same as mine. She was a very good looking young woman, very presentable. She did shiftwork, so I rarely saw her.

However I knew when she had been home as the kitchen was always left in a mess..dirty dishes, milk left out, food scraps left on the benchtops, etc; Then I started answering the phone to people asking for her boyfriend (remember he had the same name as me so sometimes confusion reigned).

I had decided to kick her out after a few weeks and planned to tell her next time I saw her. It was the following Saturday we caught up. I came home to find them half naked, exploring each other and totally pissed on the loungeroom floor. They got drunk from the scotch they had found in my room! Packed and gone by lunchtime the next day.

After she left I checked over her room. Besides the usual rubbish one leaves behind in a hurry, I found dishes and pots with mouldy food in the wardrobe and drawers, takeaway boxes with chicken scraps, used condoms and the worst of all used tampons under her bed, a fresh one obviously left that morning! Puke!

What astounded me the most was that Linda was a nurse! A week later she had the cheek to ask for her bond back. After bills, her boyfriends interstate phone calls, a bottle of scotch and my cleaning fees all she got back was a $1.80 from $250.00. I didn't know she had such a foul mouth until that day."

Any thoughts on this one readers?

No kidding Katie. I'm on a quest to bring you the most disgustingly weird tales of the absolute worst flatmates ever. I'm sure there is more like this to come.

I would have photographed all her gross mess and sent copies of the pictures to her employer anonymously. Who wants a nurse that unsanitary working in their facility. I wonder if she washes her hands after she pees or between patients and procedures which is very mandatory. I wonder how long she'll be able to fool her job. I wonder what her boyfriend is like but I DON'T wonder why he won't live with her!

Sad, sad stuff there.

The thing is... my ex is a slob when left to his own devices, but in the entire eight years we cohabitated he was neat and clean. He knew I was and honestly he liked it clean...he just would 'fall behind' on the keep up and then get discouraged and let it go when on his own. With me there he learned that I hate big cleaning days so i just maintain it here and there a bit a day. We also traded tasks... I cleaned the toilets and he took out the garbage...tasks we could live with respectively while not doing the one we disliked more. I'm not a perfect neat-freak...and I am a pack-rat (collector of sorts)...but it's clean, the kitchen and bathrooms are clean right down to the toilet rims, you can find clean dishes always, you're not afraid to use the bathroom, kitchen or to sit anywhere or touch anything because it's not gross here. When he moved out his quite young girlfriend is 10 times the slob he ever was before so their flat is always a huge dirty mess...I normally wash all their dishes every time I go there... because they are all dirty usually. Once in a while he'll get into a cleaning frenzy and clean up but she rarely does. They are raising a son who is 3 years old now and he lives in this mess. It's very sad.

Maggie... That sounds exactly like my brother and his wife, who is 6 years his junior... She's even younger than me... And both of them are messy people, but my brother is the only one with a full time job and she's the stay at home mom so I don't blame him, he's literally bringing home all of the income so he works a lot... and i feel sad and sometimes scared for my adorable nephew who she lets just play and run free roam around the house while she plays computer/video games... I mean she closes the bathroom doors and all teh rooms save for his bedroom, but still... Babies as young and adventurous and explorative as him need constant watching...
